Frequently Asked Questions    [ calendars | post your events ]

Q: How do I Create a Map Link That Works?

It's easy.

  1. Enter the "address, city, state, zip code" in the "WHERE" box (i.e. - "123 Main St. E, Seattle, WA 98119").
  2. Do not put the name of the venue in the "WHERE" box. Put that in the description instead.

Q: Can I post my radio show?

No. Sorry about that, but I am making a distinction between a broadcast-only program and an "event" which people come together for. If you have a physical event to share, please post it. Please do not post broadcast schedules on the event calendars. Thanks!

Q: I added events, but I don't see them showing up on your web site.

There are two conditions that must be met before your events can be seen on LocalEventList.com:

  1. You must be listed as a user on the calendar you're trying to post to.
  2. You must choose the right calendar when you create or edit your event.

It's easy to verify you have user access on a calendar. Try posting an event. If you have access to post, the calendar name will appear in the "Calendar" drop-down menu. Simple huh? All LocalEventList.com calendars start with "LEL" in the drop-down menu.

If you don't have access to the calendar and would like to, please send us an email.

Q: Tell me more about your Calendar? When did you start it and how do you advertise? I am interested, but to be honest keeping all the posts up to date is really hard. I want to make sure that the places I spend time posting at is getting a good number of views. Why post here?

I am volunteering my time to make this happen. I don't have a promotional budget, but I have posted fliers, sent out emails and told a lot of people about the site. I have no self-interest in the project, other than to help Seattle people come together for fun.

I've been craving easy access to event information without having to sort through emails to find events. I bought the domain name with the idea that someday I would discover a way to make this happen. Google Calendars is a great free choice.

  • LEL is free for all users—promoters and visitors alike.
  • LEL is easy to navigate. You don't have to log in to view the event calendars. Just click on the calendar name and it appears for your viewing pleasure, complete with links to a map (if you post the event correctly) and any web links in the details area.
  • All promoters get equal treatment. The only rules are against non-relevant material and spam.
  • LEL is accessible from any terminal, while many people have to be at home to check their email.
  • When you need to make a change to an event, you can do it easily, but you can't change the email that is sitting in someone's inbox.
